Chapter Advisor

     Dr. Angela Easterday Holder, Associate Professor of Music, joined the Carson-Newman Music Faculty in 2003. Originally from the Knoxville area, she received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Carson-Newman, a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Tennessee, and the Doctor of Musical Arts from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.

     Chapter advisor of the Alpha Gamma Chapter of Delta Omicron since 2017, Dr. Holder was awarded the honor of National Advisor of the Year at the 2018 Delta Omicron Triennial Conference in Orlando, Florida. 

    She is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, where she holds the office of Tennessee NATS Secretary/Treasurer and Tennessee Music Educators Association. As a member of the voice faculty at Carson-Newman, she teaches private voice, diction, song literature, class voice, and is the director of Redemption, the Christian Contemporary group sponsored by the music department.

Professor Pat Bivens

     Professor Pat Bivens is Assistant Professor of Music, Director of Instrumental Studies, and the Director of Bands at Carson-Newman University. She conducts marching band, symphonic winds, and the jazz ensemble. Her teaching schedule includes various music education courses and applied trombone and euphonium. Professor Bivens has supported Alpha Gamma as Faculty Sponsor since 2017. 

     Professor Bivens, a native of Dublin, Maryland, holds the Bachelor of Arts in trombone performance from West Virginia Wesleyan College, a Masters in Music Education from Texas Christian University (TCU), and has completed doctoral coursework at Boston University.  After completing her tour of active duty in the United States Air Force Band Program, Professor Bivens transferred to the Tennessee Air National Guard, where for the next eighteen years she performed on trombone, euphonium and as a vocalist with the 572 AF Band at McGhee-Tyson Air Base in Knoxville, Tennessee.  

     Her professional affiliations include the International Trombone Association, International Tuba-Euphonium Association, Music Educators National Conference, Tennessee Music Educators Association and the East Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association.

Leslie Cutshaw

     Leslie Massengill Cutshaw, 1986 Carson-Newman music graduate and Alpha Gamma alumna, has served as Alpha Gamma’s Chapter Mother since December, 2006.  While at Carson-Newman, she was an 8-semester member of A Cappella Choir, receiving the Choir Bible her senior year.  She sang for 5 semesters also in Women Singers and 1 semester with Lyric Theatre.   She served as Alpha Gamma’s Secretary and Music Advisor, and received the Star Of Delta Omicron her senior year.

 

     Since college she has enjoyed a career in radio and television, and has sung in church choirs and as a guest soloist around the region.  Member/soloist with Knoxville Choral Society and former member/soloist with Knoxville Chamber Chorale. She has also volunteered with Mercy/Tennova Hospice and Learning Ally, and completed an extended unit of Clinical Pastoral Education at University of Tennessee Medical Center, Knoxville.  Currently she sings and serves as soloist/soprano section leader at Ebenezer UMC in Knoxville, TN.  Leslie is married to Jeff Cutshaw and is Mom to “Our Boy Roy”, a Terrier mix adopted from the shelter in 2007.

Chris Justice

    Chris Justice is extremely honored to serve as Province President for Zeta South. Chris is an alumnus of the Alpha Gamma Chapter at Carson-Newman University, where he served as president. While a member of Alpha Gamma, Chris had the wonderful opportunities to attend two triennial conferences, the last of which he served as a music delegate and guest performer. Upon graduating with a B.M. in Music Education, Chris began his teaching career at Paulette Elementary School in Union County, TN, where he teaches PreK-5 general music. In addition, Chris directs the 5th Grade Panther Band, Treble Makers Choir, teaches piano lessons, and serves as a Teacher Ambassador for Union County. He recently made the move to Corryton, TN. Chris is also an avid clarinetist and currently performs with the Tennessee Wind Symphony in Knoxville.
